GUARANTEED PROTECTION FROM CULTS
by Robert L. Johnson
Current establishment definitions of "cult" seem
to include anything that is not Judeo-Christian. The Deist definition
for cult, however, is any organization that encourages people to believe
or act without reason. To Deism, all revealed religions are cults
because they all require their adherents to abandon their God given
reason and replace it with their religion's man-made dogma.
Whenever we violate our reason, we place ourselves in danger, whether
it is by believing some impossible doctrine of Christianity or Judaism,
or if we believe a David Koresh or a Jim Jones. If the followers of
Koresh or Jones had resolutely held fast to their reason, they NEVER
would have put themselves in a position where they and their innocent
children ended up losing their lives. In situations like these, it
appears you first give up your God given reason, and then your God given
life.
Established revealed religions laid the ground work for the tragedies
at Jones Town and Waco. They taught their followers that to give up
their ability to reason was a good thing in religious matters. It showed
they had "faith." But in reality, it only set a precedent to further
surrender their minds. It made them ripe for fanatics who, unlike the
established religious leaders, actually believe what they're preaching.
The cult leaders and cult members earnestly believe what they are
reading from the Bible is truth. And truly believing a book as crazy,
violent and discursive as the Bible is a very dangerous thing, as both
Jones Town and Waco prove.
Deists hold fast to our best defense against cults - reason! This
way, if someone tells us God told them to meet Him in the desert, or to
go to the jungle and drink poison so we can all meet in heaven, or God
needs $6,000,000.00 by a certain date or He will, "call the preacher
home," we just laugh and walk away. We also laugh when the established
religions tell us of a virgin birth, or the parting of the Red Sea. You
can't laugh at one, but not the other.
God didn't give us a mind to confuse us, it was given to us by a loving and generous Creator to be regularly used. How many more deaths will take place because people reject this beautiful and sublime gift of reason and put in its place revealed religion? Who will the next victims be? Any of your friends or family? Or you?
The survey shows a giant step forward for Deism in the fact that it actually uses the word "Deist" and for the very significant raw numbers it shows as representing the number of people who are Deists. In reality, the number of Deists is actually higher than the survey shows because the survey uses an outdated definition of Deist. For a more accurate definition please see our Deism Defined page.

The article makes clear the judge based his decision, not on the rule of law, but on the prevailing superstitions in Gwinnett County, Georgia! The fact that in 2009 people still really believe in devils and demons demonstrates clearly the NEED FOR DEISM AND GOD-GIVEN REASON!
Obama supporters forget that when all is said and done, Obama is just another politician. This article shows he's proving that he is nothing but a politician by doing more than any other president to mix religion and government, especially through giving tax-dollars to religious organizations.
