I come to Deism from a Unitarian background and, previous to that, after searching virtually every sect of revealed religion and finding absolutely nothing which I could connect with, I came across Thomas Paine. There it was! Everything fell into place just like a jigsaw doing itself! Although I found Paine to be a little excessive in his undoing of Christianity, there is nothing in his work, or those who have followed, with which I can disagree. Nature's God is the answer. A God, or Universal Spirit, or whatever name one is comfortable with, found by Reason and definitely not by Revelation. I am 15 months from retirement and I cannot get over how long it has taken for me to find my answers but it was well worth the time and effort! Once retired it will give me much more time to spread the word, 'DEISM'.
