Innate Deism

I do believe that most human beings have an innate ability to gravitate towards truth and justice. Growing up as a Roman Catholic, which my parents were strict adherents of, I just accepted what was being taught to me at the time without question. However, deep down I knew that something was not proper about all this, what I would call today, indoctrination.

I often asked myself the question as to why all these supposed miracles occurred 2000 years ago. Why are these miracles not occurring today? Also, if this God was supposed to be loving and forgiving, why was there a hell? I questioned why would a loving, forgiving God send his most precious creation to a life far more painful than anything we can experience here on earth?

Since my parents were extremely devote Catholics, I had to endure my first 18 years of life under this oppressive religion. When I was old enough to make my own decisions, I went in and out of a lot of other types of belief. I tried to become a Seventh-day Adventist, and even some of the Eastern religions. But nothing seemed to satisfy my desire to believe in a loving God; not something that would condemn me to a lifetime of misery.

Here is where my innate instincts took over. By reading about Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, I came across the concept of Deism. I knew that this was something that was connected to not only logic, but The Truth and justice I was seeking from religion. After reading a book about Deism , I came across deism.com. I wholeheartedly joined, and now immerse myself in all of the books that this organization has. I hope to spread the word, so that people who truly want to believe in a loving God that promotes logic and dedication, and not blind faith, know they have that in Deism.
