Welcome to the podcast page of the World Union of Deists! We are happy to offer Deism via podcasts. This is a great way to learn more about Deism and to get the word out about Deism. Listen to our Deism Podcast interview with Rita Swan, the founder of Children’s Healthcare Is a Legal Duty (childrenshealthcare.org). (Rita Swan and her husband have retired, but they have helped to start ChildUSA which does the same important work as Children's Healthcare Is a Legal Duty. ChildUSA's site is www.childusa.org) Rita and her husband, Doug, have dedicated their lives to protecting children from being harmed and killed due to religious faith healing/neglect (as well as from other ways in which religions harm children).
In 1977 Rita and Doug lost their only son, Matthew, because of their reliance on the religious superstition of faith healing via the Christian Science Church. Ever since, Rita and Doug have been working tirelessly to save children from religion. They have some powerful success stories in their work to make it illegal to harm or kill children for religious reasons. (It's horribly sad that in this day and age there are not only people who believe in these ancient deadly superstitions, but there are laws on the books actually protecting people with such superstitions.) This interview is amazing in the depth of knowledge Rita shares with us. She has a true story of inspiration and accomplishment. If you care about helping and protecting children and value your innate God-given reason over faith/superstition, you will greatly enjoy this Deism podcast and will benefit from hearing it!

Ian wrote, and plays the part of Thomas Paine, in the moving, educational and inspiring play To Begin the World Over Again - The Life of Thomas Paine. This thought provoking interview conducted by fellow Deist Tim Wingate, explores Ian’s training and background as an actor from England and covers in-depth his profound admiration and appreciation of Thomas Paine. The play, which has been turned into an outstanding film which will be distributed to PBS stations across America, Canada, England, New Zealand and France (and possibly other locations as well) is discussed in detail. Dr. Jones is also a libertarian and this interesting show hosted by the show's host, Jayson X, and the show's co-host Tim Wingate, Th.D., focused mostly on Dr. Jones' libertarian beliefs from the perspective of a trained and experienced psychiatrist as well as covered some of his thought provoking book Psychological Evolution and the Invention of Evil. Also covered is Thomas Jefferson's belief that Jesus was a Deist who was trying to correct the Deism of the Jews. They also cover Cayetano Ripoll who was the last person murdered by the Catholic Church through its Spanish Inquisition on July 26, 1826. Our podcast host Tim Wingate tells in a very amusing and engaging way his encounter at a mall with a man he knew years prior when they both attended the same Christian church. The Christian was on a mission at the mall to witness to the holiday shoppers about "Jesus being the reason for the season." Tim gave him a compact truth and reality based education about the true natural reason for the season! First WUD Deism Podcast - July 3, 2012

It covers the basics of Deism and makes some important points about the importance of Deism and how we'd like to see Deism develop in the future. Second WUD Deism Podcast - July 11, 2012
The second podcast (July 11, 2012) is a discussion between Tim and our World Union of Deists Deputy Director, Jayson X. (Jayson can't use his full name because he is a public school teacher in the Bible-belt and a single father who can't risk losing his position and income. We have examples of many Deists and revolutionaries such as Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin and Voltaire being forced to use a pseudonym.) This podcast is a fascinating discussion which covers Jayson leaving his "revealed" religion of Eastern Orthodox Christianity and the Orthodox Christian priesthood, as well as the extensive lesson plans Jayson developed for parents and grandparents who want to teach their children and grandchildren to be critical thinkers and to value their God-given reason as well as to educate them about Deism (the lesson plans are offered for free and can be found here). This thought provoking discussion also covers Thomas Jefferson's Bible (The Jefferson Bible) as well as the sick and damaging dogma of "original sin" and the myth of hell and why reason and Deism rejects them. Third Deism Podcast - July 18, 2012
This is a moving, riveting and thought provoking powerful Deism podcast which absolutely everyone owes it to themselves to listen to at least once! Tim Wingate, the host of our WUD Deism Podcasts, has a fascinating discussion with our WUD Deist Contact for Scotland, Linda. Linda tells her very moving story of how she became a Deist. Linda and her husband were victims of "revealed" religious terrorism when the Islamic group al-Qaeda set-off a string of bombs in London on July 7, 2005. Unfortunately Linda's husband and soul-mate was killed and Linda was crippled. Linda talks about this horrific event and explains how it motivated her to take a closer look at religions. A Muslim friend gave her a copy of the Quran which Linda read. She realized that, like the Bible, the Quran has some teachings that promote peace but it also has many that promote violence against unbelievers. (One in particular which fits perfectly with the 7/7 attacks and comes to my mind is Surah 9:5 which reads in part, "slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush.")
Linda talks about why she rejected the various "revealed" religions as well as Atheism. She first read the words "Deism" and "Deist" in the book The God Delusion by the Atheist Richard Dawkins. (This is another powerful example of why Deists need to DO all they possibly can to get the word out about Deism! People shouldn't learn about Deism by happenstance, they should learn about it from Deists who care and who recognize the beauty and importance of Deism and all the good it can do if given the chance.) This sparked her to learn more about Deism so she read Thomas Paine's outstanding book The Age of Reason. She relates a humorous encounter she had with her former Christian clergyman while reading The Age of Reason in a cafe. Once she discovered Deism she realized that she is a Deist. She says Deism offers a "sense of security without giving up your right to think" and that Deism is the best way to get to know God.

Fourth Deism Podcast - August 11, 2012
Our fourth Deism Podcast is an interesting and thought provoking discussion between our Deism Podcast host Tim Wingate and Paul Mopps. Paul is our WUD Deist Contact for Washington State's Mt. Rainier area. Paul is an outstanding active Deist! This enlightening and engaging discussion covers how Paul came to be a Deist and why he opened up his home as the first Deism Reason Center (Paul has since had to stop using his home as a Deism Reason Center for security reasons. If you'd like to learn more about Deism Reason Centers read Deism: A Revolution in Religion, A Revolution in You and God Gave Us Reason, Not Religion.). Also covered is how and why Paul "evangelizes" for Deism virtually every where he goes, whether it's on a road trip on his Harley or going into town for groceries. Who is better, Jesus or Superman? This Deism Podcast is a discussion between the host of our Deism Podcasts Tim Wingate and his brother Mark. Mark has a unique and effective way of dealing with "revealed"/hearsay religionists who insist on pushing their religion on him. This podcast is loaded with important points and lots of humor! Both Mark and Tim were born into a Pentecostal family and have a deep knowledge of Christianity. In fact, Tim has a doctorate in theology. This is the sixth Deism Podcast and contains a great discussion between our Deism Podcast host Tim Wingate and the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists Jayson X. Tim and Jayson discuss the recent event in which Christian pseudo-historian David Barton had his best-selling book, The Jefferson Lies, pulled by his Christian publisher. The reason they pulled the book is because it has too many factual errors/lies in it. This should give pause to Christians who have bought the lie that America was founded by Christians as a Christian nation. Seventh Deism Podcast - September 3, 2012
The fear of Satan, devils and demons is very powerful! It helps clergy of "revealed"/hearsay religions to control people and it causes people to kill other people through exorcisms in attempts to force one or more imaginary demons to leave the body of the person who is believed to be possessed. It also caused a mother of five to murder all five of her sons because she sincerely thought that if she did not kill her own innocent children then Satan would get their souls for all eternity. This Deism Podcast, Devils, Demons and Darkness, will help a lot of people because it sheds light on the origins of beliefs in Satan, Lucifer, devils, demons and hell. In this very informative and intriguing discussion between Tim Wingate, the host of Deism Podcasts, and Jayson X, the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists, very important points are made such as the concept of devils as being from people and not from God as well as Jesus being the same as Lucifer. These two Deists are very qualified to teach on this important topic as Tim has a Doctor in Theology degree and Jayson is a former Eastern Orthodox Christian priest. This podcast runs 1 hour and 45 minutes. Please share it with anyone you think would be interested in it and particularly anyone you know who is currently suffering from beliefs in Satan, demons and devils.
